Vinyl Collective Recap
Last Tuesday’s meeting of the Vinyl Collective at The Standard Hotel & Spa brought the hermits out of the woodwork. Earlier in the evening, the event’s sponsors could be heard on the airwaves of WVUM 90.5 giving away the most recent issue of Wax Poetics as well as a pair of WESC headphones in promotion. As the vinyl spun, DJs, vendors, collectors, and newcomers took turns selecting the sounds. Heads enjoyed the Standard’s bar, as well as the night’s variety of board games strewn amongst the issues of Wax Poetics. Customers sampled wax on a Big Bird portable player equipped with a pair of WESC Maraca’s. Mr. Brown racked a massive collection of funk, rock, and disco scattered with gems of italo and the mandatory crate of 45s. Induce pushed house, italo, and his most recent album collaboration, Casual Sax and the Saxual Revolution. Overall, a night filled with conversation and coveted tunes.
