Giorgio Moroder pretends to play “Chase” from Midnight Express on the Minimoog on German TV



Shortly after Giorgio Moroder won an Academy Award for his soundtrack to Midnight Express, he appeared on German TV where, after they introduced him, they played clips from the film and Moroder played some of the song’s riffs on the Minimoog rigged up for him. While this  likely wasn’t a true live performance, it’s fun nonetheless.

Another priceless video we found was this promo made to support his solo release E=MC2, an album that is “Moogs, memory banks, and Moroder.” The video shows the musician “plugged in, turned on, and creating musical magic from thin air and solid state electronics.” Watch him use the Vocoder:
