Today would have been Latin jazz legend Willie Bobo’s seventy-seventh birthday. Although most famous for rocking with the live band on Bill Cosby’s variety show, Cos, Bobo had an illustrious career, recording nearly twenty solo records and working with Tito Puente, Carlos Santana, George Shearing, and Cal Tjader. He passed away in 1983, but his legacy lives on through his son, who is percussionist Eric Bobo of Cypress Hill. Check out Willie’s live performance at the 1982 Playboy Jazz Festival. Happy Birthday, Willie!
