On an initial phone call during the summer of 2011, two artists quickly struck up a friendship. A few weeks later, William Hart—the lead singer of Philly’s quintessential sweet-soul group, the Delfonics—hopped on a plane bound for Adrian Younge’s Los Angeles studio for the first of two sessions.
