Video for Chris Orrick’s “Design Flaw,” produced by L’Orange

Mello Music Group rapper Chris Orrick (formerly Red Pill) drops a crazy NQSFW video for his new single, “Design Flaw.”

“Chris Orrick often elegantly walks the line between comedy & tragedy,” says Mello Music of the Detroit artist.

Fellow Mello man L’Orange produces the piano and drums track, a perfect canvas for Orrick’s soul-searching, slightly self-deprecating lyrics.

“One thing that has always struck me about Chris Orrick’s lyrics,” says video director Malcolm Critcher, “is how deftly they walk the razor’s edge of the comedic and tragic. For our first collaboration, I wanted to bring this spirit to life. The idea of having a puppet circling the drain to rock bottom was ultimately born from ruminating on addicts and what role denial plays in their struggle. The puppet is approaching rock bottom as an alcoholic, but foundationally his substance abuse stems from his denial of the fact that he is an inanimate object. I thought this idea was hilarious.”

Chris Orrick’s album Portraits drops May 4.
