  2. There are three hours of Sound Trek that I recorded live in Frankfurt, Germany, on Sept 3, 1976 at the Topper Club.

Of course this band was always evolving as our members rotated back to the States (“the World” as we called it) and new members were coming to Germany. I was the keyboard player at the time of this recording. I’m back in contact with three of the members from 1976 (guitar, drummer and trumpet player).

Sound Trek was a soul band out of Frankfurt, Germany consisting mostly of US Army soldiers in the 1970’s. Many were from the 3rd Armored Division Band. Thomas White on bass, Bart Bloemhard on guitar, Dennis “Grif” Griffin on drums, Jesse “Snake” Andress on flute and alto sax, Dave Edwards on keys, Dexter “Rudi” Peel on sound, percussion and baritone sax, Arnold “Budd” Riker recording engineer, Curt Cobray on horns and vocals. Ricky Lewis wasn’t on this recording but was our 2nd drummer on most gigs at this period of time.

At this gig we opened and closed for Ben E King who played our 2nd set. If anyone knows how to reach bass player Thomas White (believed to be residing in Detroit in 2012) please contact me.

Sound Trek also opened for Eddie Floyd, Sam and Dave and Joe Tex in 1976 in Germany. We played primarily US Bases, but some civilian gigs also. Several members were also in the 3d Armored Division Band. Many of us were stationed at Drake Kaserne in Frankfurt. Bart and Grif were from Rhein Mein. Bud worked for AFN Radio in Frankfurt.
